Tyler's Pantry

This morning we went to Tyler's Pantry in Mogo on the South Coast.  Owner Josh Tyler abides by a strict locavore ethos - which means that all ingredients used in the cafe are seasonal and sourced locally.

We went for breakfast, and it was truly delicious - I can't believe that we have never stumbled upon this cafe before!

I ordered the hotcakes with whipped ricotta, berries and maple syrup ($16), while my husband ordered the Croque Madame ($12).  Certainly not low-fat options, but hey, we're on holidays....

A Croque-Monsier is a French version of the toasted ham and cheese sandwich, but a lot fancier.  It is served on sourdough toast with gruyere cheese, mustard and leg ham, and a lot of butter.  A Croque-Madame is the same dish, but with a fried egg on top, usually served for breakfast.  Delicious!

The hotcakes were equally as good.  A little heavier/more dense than usual, these hotcakes were served smothered in maple syrup with a delicious ricotta topping and fresh strawberries.

The serving sizes were perfect too - not too much, but enough to make you satisfied.  The coffee was good too, which is probably the most important thing!

Other breakfast options include granola, poached eggs on sourdough, and a bacon and scrambled egg panini.

We also bought a friand to take away on the way out, for our daughter.  The cakes all looked delicious and are made on the premises.

Clockwise from Top Left: Ricotta hotcakes, Croque-Madame (with avocado on the side that we ordered for our daughter), From the street, Delicious homemade cakes, Piccolo Latte, Inside.
